At the heart of our work is a simple belief: everyone deserves the chance to thrive. Our volunteer programme is designed to support you on your journey. You can read about volunteers experiences of volunteering with us here. We understand the challenges of returning to work, managing mental health challenges, or simply looking to grow.
For us its more than just volunteering, its a way of life, its bringing wellbeing into daily life taking small steps to gain confidence and grow.
We call it FLAP:
We understand that taking the first step can feel daunting, and finding the courage may take time. We’re always here to talk about what your volunteering journey could look like—even if you’re not ready yet.
At Sally’s Duck Rescue, volunteering is about more than caring for ducks—it’s about helping people heal, grow, and regain confidence in a supportive environment. Our volunteer program is designed around our FLAP ethos: Freedom, Learning, Application, and Progress.
Volunteers engage in a variety of tasks depending on their skills and interests, including:
All volunteers receive comprehensive training and ongoing support, ensuring they feel confident and empowered in their role.
By participating, volunteers not only make a tangible difference in the lives of the ducks but also experience personal growth: building confidence, learning new skills, applying them in meaningful ways, and progressing toward their next life chapter—whether that’s returning to work, expanding their network, or pursuing new opportunities.
At Sally’s Duck Rescue, we create a safe, inclusive space where people can thrive, while making a real impact on the lives of our feathered friends.
Hear from our volunteers here
Sally’s Duck Rescue is a charitable organisation based in Marshland, Norfolk, dedicated to giving domestic ducks a second chance at life. Our passionate team works tirelessly to rescue and rehabilitate ducks that have been abandoned, neglected, or abused.
Through our rescue, we not only transform the lives of ducks but also create opportunities for people to learn, grow, and give back, embracing our ethos of FLAP: Freedom, Learning, Application, and Progress.
At the heart of our work is our mission to find loving, forever homes for every duck that comes through our doors. For ducks that require extra care—such as the elderly or those with disabilities—our sanctuary provides a safe, nurturing environment where they can live out their days with comfort and dignity. These special residents hold a permanent place in our hearts.
